A few short months ago I decided to test Foursquare after we considered location based social interaction for a campaign. Admittedly I’m addicted to Foursquare, I simply cannot get enough of the silly application. I like being the mayor of 60+ venues, I like unlocking badges, admit to cheating the system and I take pride in being the highest rated Foursquare user in my neighborhood. There are other location based social tools like Gowalla, but nothing has grabbed my attention in quite the same way.

Despite my obsession with Foursquare, I fear it might become boring as it simply doesn’t do enough (yet). I’m not sure how well Foursquare works globally, but locally it’s really buggy, check-ins are sometimes quite simply impossible, locations are far from precise, and those dos loving black berry users seem to be able to check into locations that are miles away as many times as they like.

I’d like to see Foursquare give us more localized stats, something similar to how twitter has loads of third party developer building all sorts of ways to keep track on who does what, when and how.

Taking pictures at a location would be a great visual way to get an idea of where you are and what goes on there, beats a shout out.

Extending the ability to see who has checked into a location, it would be nice to have the ability to start a chat with your friends

Sending a map to a friend could be useful

More information on how to setup badges, promotions might encourage more use

I still check-in, but find I frequent Foursquare less and less every day. Not sure how long this will continue or whether we’ll actually do a campaign that includes Foursquare until we have more measurable results to share with clients, but until then, I guess I’ll fuel my addiction with 3 last check-ins for the evening and invite you to follow me.
