Week 5 – 2024

Work

The first month has been really busy with is a positive start to 2024.

Personal

I have not been training. I have atiny gym upstairs which I just haven’t used. I go to a gym thats 30 minutes drive. The travel prevents me from going. So I have lost my momentum. Need to get back on track.

I bought my first Polychromos coloured pencils as I’m interested in doing drawings with colour. Been watching loads of videos on youtube and hoping to get something on paper soon.

Making

Finished my 6th Lego MOC. It’s a City Space Mech.

Week 2 – 2024

Work

Built out a solid prototype for our new finance client with our new designer and through some solid collaboration from everyone in our team. Enjoying working on a project which is something I do less of while I lead out the function.

Received 360 feedback. I am challenged by this, but as a leader I responded to the feedback and shared it along with the rest of leadership.

Gave another UX/UI lesson to a new group as part of our internal MO_Pro training. I enjoy teaching. I’ve been encouraged to do a MOHARA design course which I will start work on soon. Who knows, maybe I’ll turn that into a skillshare class.

Our COO Ben did this weeks MOHARA MixTape

Personal

I’m good. I have nothing to complain about. I have been listening to people talk and noticed when they reply, to how are you, most people seize the moment to unpack the pain. While I understand it, I don’t want to be that guy, it immediately makes you a little toxic for people. I am in search of peace and like to talk to delightful people who are simply a pleasure to be around. I know it’s false and I’m very open to discussing peoples challenges, but in a crowded room with strangers, to me thats toxic over sharing an doesn’t make a good first impression.

Watching

I’ve been too busy to watch a lot. but I did binge watch a Netflix series on Saturday called The Brothers Sun which was ok.

Chris Do schools you on Selling Without Being Salesy: The Kind Way to Sell.

The War on the West by Douglas Murray

Making

I decided to change the colour of my site. It’s now the official neon yellow colour. The first of many little tweaks to rebrand myself and try something a little different from what I’ve done before. Noticed neon colours recently on a lot of sites, so I’m attempting to see if it works for me.

This weeks Lego build is the Lego City Recycling Truck which inspired my Recycling Mech

Week 1 – 2024

Happy New Year!

Work

Was a busy first week back.

Participated in a workshop with a new client in the finance industry.

Onboarding new staff can get difficult when theres just not enough time in the day when everything more important. But great having new team members.

Personal

They say “…the place you end up is the place you start from” I’m drawn more and more every day to the simple things that gave me joy in my youth, rather than all the things you’re supposed to do as an adult.

Struggled to get into the gym, but I worked out eventually and will keep the ball rolling.

New Years Eve was uneventful. Stayed home, watched some fireworks and went to bed fairly early. I want to have a wild party, but I’m not really bothered that I didn’t.

Week 52 2023

Work

No Work, I’m on holiday over the the festive season.

I removed all apps I use for work off my phone to stop me from checking slack messages and email, it seems to have worked.

Personal

I did very little while on holiday. Mostly stayed in and watched series. It was restful.

I watched a man trying to walk his cat on a leash. Poor cat was fighting him dragging it down the road. I’m starting to see a lot of stupidity. Trying to not let it bother me.

Outside of some muscle pain, I’ve felt pretty healthy. Sleeping pattern is all over the place, but will try and set that clock again with a little routine in the new year.

Watching

Watched the entire Game of Thrones series again. Enjoyed it. The ending ruined it. I’m certain the media buyers made the last episode. Left me rather frustrated. I don’t think I ever watched the entire final episode I was so annoyed before. Still annoyed.

Went down a rabbit hole after watching Terrence Howards Oxford Address – his maths is a little puzzling, but I’m interested in the flower of life thinking he shared.

Rick Ruben interview on Andrew Huberman’s podcast kept me up until 4am. I feel really aligned to his creative practices and ways of thinking. Making me really think about how I create and live my life.

Making

Built my 5th Lego Mech this week, and my first Lego YouTube logo. Check them out on my Instagram

Week 49 2023

Work

Only a few weeks left at work and a lot to do.

Nothing broke while I was on leave.

Lots of new projects in the pipeline. The year is ending much better than it’s generally been.

Collaboration is the word I will end the year with. Super important to work together as cross functional teams.

Personal

Training is getting better. Health isn’t bad. MY sleep could be better.

Visited Emsphere, a new mall that opened on day 1. It was chaos. Too many photographers everywhere. But I wanted to experience the launch of something I’ve seen under construction since I arrived in Bangkok. It also has an IKEA, which is handy.

I’ve been in Bangkok 2 years.

Setup a studio for my Lego Mech building.

Week 48 2023

Work

I’ve taken a few days off from work this week. I scheduled this after getting really ill a few weeks ago. I probably should have taken more time off, but I feel like I have so much to do and we are heading into December.

Working on training material for a UX/UI training session as part of our product thinking course we have initiated at MOHARA for our team

Personal

I am feeling very creative, but limited by my access to the resources I need, the time and energy I have to get things done. I wish I did not have these limits and could just produce while inspiration strikes. But we have to eat, sleep and work to have the means to have time and resources to make.

I’m not eating much. I really want to have someone else work out how many calories I should be eating and work out how much I do. For all I know my 3-4 venti lattes every day give me all the calories I need, but my food intake is low. I rarely feel hungry. Mostly I snack late and night, which I don’t think is the healthiest option.

It’s visa time, so having to go to immigration is something I have to do. I believe I was supposed to go every 3 months. But I did not know this. So now I will have to pay a fine.

Watching

I was excited to watch Napoleon on the big screen. While it’s a good movie. I got bored a lot more than I would have liked. There were some battle scenes, but not enough. I’d say watch it, but it’s not as epic as I hoped it would be.

Listening

I can’t say I’ve discovered any new music or podcasts this year worth listening to. But I have enjoyed music from the likes of Bruno Mars, The Weeknd and Post Malone. I watch most of the podcasts I’m interested in.

Reading

I haven’t read anything this week. But I am interested in going to physical book store and finding something I can read over the holidays at the end of the year.

Tips & Tricks

Getting protein in your body first thing in the morning has been the only consistent thing I noticed when I dropped a lot of body fat earlier this year. I eat scrambled eggs almost daily as my first meal. Sometimes.

Week 47 2023

I’m re-instating weeknotes into my blog to capture what I’ve been watching, reading and doing personally and professionally in a concise way like I used to do.

Work

Signed up to Twitter Premium to explore its AI Grok in my workflow. I have an OpenAI subscription which I find useful, but with all the Sam Altman being fired news, I thought it best to explore alternatives.

Personal

I’m discovering more and more health and nutrition tips, but it’s surprisingly all coming together for me.

I’ve resumed training again after being sick for a few weeks. I am exploring a full body workout on most days of the week. Given how much I sit, I’d like to train every day to maintain muscle and keep a nice Aesthetically pleasing physique.

Discovered the Animal-Based Diet, which sound very appetising for me. It’s mostly meat, fruit and raw foods.

Watching

I watched an informative clip on toxin release. What I particularly appreciated was the concise summary on muscle building, fasting, and starting the day with protein.

A few of the Brits I have recently been enjoying on YouTube are Steven Bartlets: Diary of a CEO, Chris Williamson: Modern Wisdom podcasts , and James Smiths personal training channel.

Tips & Tricks

A tip for those planning a holiday in Thailand: November offers cooler weather, ideal if you prefer a break from the intense heat.
