I have a confession. I’m not very good or even inclined to go and do something to help those less fortunate than me, when it’s out of my set of skills. Time is something I just don’t have, even when it seems like I do nothing. But I am willing to give, but not always in a position to do so, but not for the reasons you might think. I will literally give you the shirt on my back, (if not money) but what I can’t do, is get the shirt to you. I’m currently financially struggling, but despite this, I know there are people a lot less fortunate than myself, so if it means going into my wardrobe and pulling out some old clothes and shoes, or donating furniture that I hardly use, I will do it. Despite no evidence of it coming back to me, I believe in giving. So if I have any advice to give anyone who is asking for help with their cause, please make it easy. I have always donated to charitywater.org because they always made it easy for me to campaign, for them. I remember seeing this salvation army campaign while I was in Hong Kong last year and to me it’s just brilliant (if not just some agency scam).

If you want people to donate to you, then offer to send packaging, a drop off point or someone to collect the goods. I literally will give everything I can, if you can just make it easy to give.
